EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The former director of the Detroit Institute of Arts is going green.

Michigan State University says Graham Beal will be a visiting professor in the Department of Art, Art History and Design.

Beal will assist in the search for a new director at MSU’s Broad Art Museum and work on ways to get the campus community engaged with the museum. He’ll also advise the provost, who is MSU’s senior academic official.

Provost June Pierce Youatt says, “We look forward to Mr. Beal’s creative counsel.”

Beal was director of the DIA during Detroit’s bankruptcy. Creditors had their eyes on city-owned art at the museum, but a deal was struck to prevent any sale.
