FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) - A small helicopter crashed on a berry farm west of Portland, injuring the pilot.

Forest Grove Fire Marshal Dave Nemeyer tells The Oregonian (https://is.gd/OGnBNq ) that farm workers took the pilot to the hospital before emergency crews arrived. He says a local business owns the helicopter and the owner’s daughter was the pilot. She was identified as 52-year-old Katherine Hyneman.

The pilot managed to get out of the crashed helicopter on her own. Nemeyer says she walked at least the length of a football field and called for help.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says Hyneman told investigators she was preparing to spray the fields Friday morning when the engine stopped working. She estimated she was 50 feet off the ground.

She sustained a minor head injury.
