NEW ORLEANS (AP) - An Orleans Parish judge has refused to seal a civil lawsuit against Tulane University and two of the school’s football players who a young woman says raped her.

Multiple media outlets report that Civil District Court Judge Tiffany Chase on Thursday agreed with a challenge brought by The Times-Picayune that university lawyers couldn’t seek to prevent public access to documents in the proceedings.

The lawsuit stems from an April 2014 recruiting event in which a woman, now 19, said she was raped by Tulane football players Niguel “Teddy” Veal and Raul Diaz Jr. The woman was a high-school student at the time and says she was illegally served alcohol with other women’s basketball recruits.

Both men have denied wrongdoing, and have countersued their accuser for defamation. Neither man is facing charges.
