BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - When President Barack Obama greets Pope Francis at the White House next week, Louisiana Senate President John Alario will be in attendance.

An estimated 15,000 people have been invited to Wednesday’s White House arrival ceremony for the pope.

The invitation, released by the state Senate, says the event will be held outside on the South Lawn of the White House. The invitation also warns: “We expect a crowd in the thousands so we encourage you to factor that into your travel time as you plan.”

While in Washington, the pope also will address Congress and celebrate Mass at the basilica.
