NEW ORLEANS (AP) - For the second time in five years, a jury found 41-year-old Billy Ray Lewis responsible for the 2002 murder of an 11-year-old girl and her 16-year-old uncle inside an eastern New Orleans home.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1MvGHZK) Lewis was found guilty Thursday in Orleans Parish court on two counts of second-degree murder in the July 24, 2002, shooting deaths of Daveion Jones and Travis Webb. Lewis is scheduled for an Oct. 19 sentencing hearing.

Lewis was previously convicted of the double murder in March of 2010 and sentenced to two life sentences in prison. Three years later, and citing judicial error, the Louisiana Supreme Court granted Lewis a new trial.

A co-defendant pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges in 2009 and received two 10-year sentences.
