HOUSTON (AP) - A 44-year-old man accused of being a serial rapist has been given four sentences of life in prison in Houston.

Herman Whitfield Jr. was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault Wednesday. Authorities say Whitfield pulled a 21-year-old woman into the woods as she walked home in June 2008 and assaulted her. He received a life sentence Thursday.

Whitfield also pleaded guilty to three other aggravated sexual assaults. All four sentences will run concurrently.

Authorities say Whitfield has been linked to at least 14 sexual assaults dating back to the 1990s.
