TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a man fleeing police in a stolen car at high speeds crashed into a sport utility vehicle in northwest Ohio and died.

The State Highway Patrol tells Toledo-area media that the unidentified man was driving a Porsche reported stolen in Alabama and was caught in the fiery wreckage for a time Thursday night. He died later at a hospital.

Troopers say the woman driving the SUV was hospitalized in critical condition.

The patrol says troopers had tried to stop the unidentified man for reckless driving around 10:30 p.m. and then again a few minutes later, just before the crash. Troopers say the SUV flipped on its side and the Porsche caught fire.

Patrol dispatchers in Toledo said Friday that they couldn’t provide any details on the crash.
