PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police have arrested a Providence man they say stabbed his adult son with a steak knife.

Officers responded to a report of men yelling at an apartment Thursday morning and found 56-year-old John Cronin, Sr. lying in a driveway, bleeding from the back of his head.

Police say Cronin’s 38-year-old son was inside the apartment yelling at his father through a window.

The son told police the two had argued in the kitchen, and his father had stabbed him once in the stomach with a steak knife. The son then pushed Cronin into the counter, cutting his head.

Father and son were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

It’s unclear whether the elder Cronin is represented by an attorney.
