GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - A convicted sex offender has been accused of trying to expose himself to a female University of North Carolina Greensboro student on campus.

University police chief Jamie Herring tells local media that 41-year-old Bobby E. Timmons was charged with indecent exposure after police say surveillance camera footage shows Timmons exposing himself while following the student Thursday morning.

Herring says the student called police while she was walking, after having noticed the man was following her.

According to the North Carolina Department of Correction website, Timmons was convicted in 2012 of indecent liberties with a child and indecent exposure. He was also convicted of secretly peeping in 2013.

Police do not believe Timmons has been on the university’s campus before.

It is unclear if he has hired an attorney.
