SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - A suspect in the killing of two rival gang members in Sparks nearly five years ago has been booked into the Washoe County jail on two first-degree murder charges after his arrest earlier this year in El Salvador.

Sparks police say 24-year-old Luis Alejandro Cordero-Menendez accused of fatal shooting of 19-year-old Kevin Melendez and 21-year-old Moises Vasquez-Sanchez following a part at an apartment on El Rancho Drive on Nov. 20, 2010.

Investigators told KOLO-TV (https://tinyurl.com/pfshqk6) he’s a member of the violent gang known as “MS 13,” which was formed by Salvadoran immigrants in Los Angeles.

The detectives say fellow gang members helped him flee to Sacramento, then Los Angeles and eventually to El Salvador. He was booked Wednesday into the jail in Reno where he’s being held without bail.
