BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont State Police have identified a 28-year-old state trooper who collapsed at a firing range in Jericho and later died.

Police said Kyle Young of Monkton suffered a medical event that caused him to collapse during training at the Ethan Allen Firing Range on Thursday afternoon. He was rushed to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead an hour later.

Young, who was assigned to the New Haven barracks in Middlebury, started his career with the state police on Jan. 13, 2014.

Arrangements were underway to return Young to Watertown, New York, his hometown. He is survived by his children, his partner and parents and family.
