JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man found lying in a northern New Jersey roadway has died from his injuries.

Morris County prosecutors say a passer-by called police after spotting the man around 4 a.m. Saturday on Route 15 north in Jefferson Township. Officers say it appeared that the victim, 24-year-old township resident Michael Adams, had been struck by a vehicle.

Adams was taken to a hospital, but died there a short time later.

Authorities say it’s not clear how long Adams was in the road before he was spotted or how the accident occurred.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
