CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Students at a Charleston school got an early start to the weekend after bed bugs were found.

Media outlets report a student found a bed bug in her book Thursday at Chamberlain Elementary School. Students in the class were taken outside for the rest of the day.

Principal Phoebe McCloud says an exterminator treated the upper-level classroom where the girl’s locker and bookbag were located, along with the school library.

On Friday, another bed bug was found beside the lower-level school clinic. All classes were dismissed so the entire school could be treated. Students were told to leave their belongings at school. Students are expected to return on Monday.

Earlier this month, an exterminator was called to Wayne County’s Tolsia High after a bed bug was found in a classroom.
