LAS VEGAS (AP) - A fire at a golf course in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas caused $500,000 in damage and sent plumes of smoke into the sky that were visible across the metropolitan area Saturday.

Fire crews were called to the private TPC Summerlin golf club around 10:30 a.m. after a maintenance building used for storing vehicles and equipment caught fire.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski says after firefighters arrived, the building’s roof collapsed, smothering most of the flames.

The Las Vegas Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1V39dqf ) crews had the blaze under control within about 10 minutes but remained on the scene Saturday afternoon.

The fire’s cause was still under investigation.

No injuries were reported and no other property at the club was damaged.
