EAST POINT, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say the body of a man has been found inside his home after an overnight apartment fire.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (https://on-ajc.com/1KsWdPr ) that firefighters discovered the dead body of 29-year-old John Tatum in his apartment early Saturday. East Point officials say an autopsy is under way, and are treating the cause of death as an accident.

Fire crews arrived at the eight-unit apartment building and found other residents already outside the building, which was in flames. A news release says the intense blaze kept firefighters from conducting an initial search of the building when they arrived until after the flames were brought under control.

Twelve adults and three children were displaced by the fire.
