KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) - Justin Thompson kicked four field goals, including the 28-yard game winner with 1:39 left in the fourth quarter, to help Kennesaw State escape with an 18-10 win over Division II Shorter University.

The final Kennesaw State drive took 15 plays and included a 4th and 1 conversion on a run by quarterback Trey White.

Shorter had an opportunity to win the game on the final play, but a fumbled snap on Kenny Langford’s 38-yard field goal attempt was picked up by Dez Billingslea and returned for a touchdown to seal it.

White threw for 186 yards and had 77 more on the ground to lead the Owls (3-0) offense. Micah Reed added 100 yards rushing on 26 carries and Justin Sumpter caught five passes for 121 yards for Kennesaw State.

Aaron Bryant finished with 135 yards passing to lead Shorter. Cody Simpson added 72 yards receiving.
