CINCINNATI (AP) - The national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens will be the keynote speaker as the civil rights group’s Cincinnati council presents community service awards and scholarships.

The group known as LULAC holds its 10th annual Cincinnati awards gala Saturday evening at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.

The group says the event’s theme is “Education: The Gateway to Success.” It will award 28 college scholarships, while also honoring six people for exemplary service to the Hispanic community.

LULAC president Roger Rocha will speak at the event.
