TUALIP, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say a man has died following a struggle with police on the Tulalip Reservation.

The Mukilteo Police Department says two tribal police officers and a sheriff’s deputy responded on Friday night to a call of a male walking in the roadway.

As the man was being placed in the patrol car, officials say he started fighting with officers. During the struggle, the man became unresponsive.

Officers attempted to revive him with CPR until medical aid arrived, but he died at the scene. He was 50 years old.

The official cause and manner of death will be confirmed by the Medical Examiner’s Office. The man’s name has not been released.

The deputy and the tribal police officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
