PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say one man was killed and another was wounded when shots rang out on a Paterson street.

The shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday on Auburn Street in the city’s 4th Ward. The victims were only identified as city residents, and further details on the wounded man’s condition were not disclosed.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Authorities did not say what type of weapon was used in the shooting or how many shooters may have been involved.

The city has had 46 shootings this year, with eight people killed and 50 people wounded.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting.
