LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The head of Nebraska’s Agriculture Department has been chosen to lead a national organization of other state ag leaders.

Greg Ibach has been elected president of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture.

The group promotes policies that promote American agriculture and protect the environment.

Ibach says he will work hard to represent farmers and ranchers in discussions with Congress and federal agencies.

As part the job, Ibach will host the group’s annual meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska, next September. The national group will mark its 100th anniversary at that conference.
