EASTON, Pa. (AP) - Chad Kanoff passed for 256 yards and a touchdown and Princeton beat Lafayette 40-7 on Saturday night to snap the Tigers’ eight-game losing streak in season openers.

The Tigers had not won a season opener since 2006 when Princeton last won an Ivy League championship. They ended that streak by beating the Leopards (0-3) for the eighth straight time.

Kanoff, who missed all of last season with an injury, threw a 5-yard scoring pass to Trevor Osborne early in the second quarter. Dre Nelson, who ran for 116 yards on just eight carries, made it 13-0 with a 23-yard reverse. Backup quarterback John Lovett threw his only pass, a 1-yarder, to defensive end Kurt Holuba for another second-quarter score. Lovett scored again in the third quarter on his only rushing attempt, a 1-yarder.

Lafayette scored last, snapping the shutout with a 50-yard pass play from Drew Reed to Rajhan Meriwether.
