MONROE, La. (AP) - Two students in the Ouachita Parish School system have been arrested in separate incidents.

Superintendent Don Coker tells The News-Star (https://tnsne.ws/1JyaxXl) one incident involved a juvenile at Woodlawn Elementary School who brought an unloaded pistol to school and the other occurred at Ouachita Parish High School where a 15-year-old hit a teacher.

Both were arrested by the Ouachita Parish sheriff’s deputies Tuesday and taken to Green Oaks Detention Center. Coker says both will be recommended for expulsion.

He says the 7th grade Woodlawn student showed an empty pistol to other students on the bus before school.

He said the 7th grader has had problems in the past and was expelled last year.
