ABINGDON, Va. (AP) - A Bristol bankruptcy attorney who pleaded guilty to wire fraud will serve four months in a federal prison.

Tony Michael Hutchinson also must pay $160,647 in restitution. He was sentenced on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Abingdon.

U.S. Attorney Anthony P. Giorno’s office says the 52-year-old Hutchinson was a law firm’s only bankruptcy lawyer. Beginning in 2013, he kept initial payments made by clients who retained the firm for filing bankruptcy petitions. The money was supposed to be deposited into the firm’s trust account to pay bankruptcy filing fees.

Giorno’s office says Hutchinson paid the filing fees by using the law firm’s credit card account.

Hutchinson also charged clients an additional $50 fee from 2007 to 2012 to cover expenses and kept the money for himself.
