BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A Buffalo police officer who was fired after stealing $130 from a woman’s purse faces sentencing.

Michael Missana could get up to a year in prison Wednesday after being found guilty in June of petit larceny and official misconduct.

Missana had been on the job for a little less than two years when he was accused last summer of taking the cash out of a purse that was given to him by a good samaritan who found it. Missana then returned the purse, minus the money, to its rightful owner.

The police department fired him following his conviction in state Supreme Court.
