CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - It’s time to get ready for apple picking: New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan is visiting an orchard in Londonderry as part of New England Apple Day to kick off the season.

Hassan is visiting Mack’s Apples on Wednesday afternoon.

Accompanying her will be Lorraine Merrill, commissioner of agriculture, and Jim Blair, president and CEO of the U.S. Apple Association.

Mack’s Apples, also known as Moose Hill Orchards, has been owned and operated by the Mack Family since 1732 and has been producing and selling apples since the 1800’s. The farm consists of 400 acres, with 100 acres dedicated to apples.

New England Apple Day was established as a way to remind people that harvest season has begun at their local apple orchards.
