INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A local church is taking its casket display around Indianapolis in an effort to encourage an end to violent crimes.

Pastor Anthony Pippens of Greater New Hope Church tells WISH-TV (https://bit.ly/1NasvFL ) that the idea of putting a dummy in a casket came about two years ago as part of a street ministry. This summer, parishioners have been setting up the casket display in different parts of the city.

The casket was on display over the weekend on the near northeast side of Indianapolis. Parishioners stood near the display with anti-violence signs.

Pippens says the response to the display has been overwhelming and has sparked a lot of discussion about the reality of death.

He says some parents are using the display to teach valuable lessons to their children.
