LEAD, S.D. (AP) - A Lead man accused of stabbing a woman to death has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Authorities allege 44-year-old James Rogers killed 27-year-old Caitlin Walsh. Her body was found Aug. 17 in an apartment in downtown Lead. Tests indicated she had been dead for five days.

Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between Rogers and Walsh.

Rogers entered his plea Tuesday. He faces a mandatory life sentence and the possibly of the death penalty if convicted. He remains jailed without bond and is due back in court on Oct. 6.
