HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - A 53-year-old man is accused of shooting his son in the head during a confrontation in Hollywood.

The shooting happened early Saturday morning as Reynaldo Reyes Sr. argued with his son Reynaldo Reyes Jr.

According to an arrest report, the younger man’s girlfriend Emily Robinson told police she didn’t understand what they were arguing about because they were speaking Spanish. The father armed himself with a gun as his wife tried to separate the pair.

The Sun Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1fV7OPa ) reports the younger man said, “you’re really going to shoot me?”

The father told police the shooting was accidental. He said he was angry that his son was intoxicated and was being disrespectful to his girlfriend.

Reyes is being held without bond on a second-degree murder charge.
