Passing drivers were horrified to spot a man’s body was found hanging from an exit sign pole in New York City early Wednesday.

The body of John Rynne, 57, was found hanging from a traffic advisory board at Exit 31 in Bayside on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens, the New York Daily News reported.

Passersby reported seeing the body on social media before police arrived at the scene.

“Just saw a dead guy hanging from the exit sign of the Cross Island Pkwy??????????” Fernando Diaz wrote on Twitter.

“Just saw someone that hung himself off the exit sign on the Cross Island right passed Northern Blvd … crazy,” Angelo Russello tweeted.

Mr. Rynne was dead at the scene and a medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death, the Daily News reported.

Police are investigating the death as a suicide.
