A new video posted by Islamic State militants shows the extremists fighters training with U.S.-made M16 rifles.

The video was released by the terror group’s northern Iraqi branch and purportedly shows more than a dozen fighters undergoing weapons training using American rifles, according to Flashpoint Intelligence, a security firm that does intelligence consulting.

Most jihadi fighters typically use Russian AK-47 rifles, and the latest video could suggest the Islamic State militants recently seized a cache of the American M16s, NBC news reported

“It is noteworthy that the use of American rifles by Islamic State fighters is rare and is only seen in Iraq,” Flashpoint said in a research note, adding that the rifles were likely left by U.S. forces or seized from Iraqi soldiers.

The jihadist group has released propaganda material in the past showing fighters flaunting other U.S.-made weapons including tanks and Humvees seized from retreating Iraqi forces.

The U.S. has sent hundreds of millions of dollars in military equipment to Iraq. In June, Iraq’s government said it lost 2,3000 Humvees when the militants seized the city of Mosul.

Last year the militants released a video claiming to have seized an airdrop of U.S. weapons intended for Kurdish fighters.
