NEW YORK (AP) - New Yorkers who want to catch a glimpse of Pope Francis in Central Park can begin registering Thursday for a chance of winning tickets.

The pope will travel through part of the park on September 25th before celebrating Mass at Madison Square Garden.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday that state residents can call 311 or register online for a pair of tickets until Monday.

Winners will be randomly selected.

The pontiff arrives in the city Sept. 24 and departs for Philadelphia on Sept. 26.

It’s Francis’ first visit to the United States. He starts his five-day trip in Washington, D.C.

In New York, he will also attend a service at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, address the United Nations and visit the National September 11 Memorial and an East Harlem school.
