TEMPLE CITY, Calif. (AP) - Officials have identified the two people killed when their antique car hit a tree in a suburb east of Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1N1Y2YQ ) that 81-year-old Florean Frank Izbinski and 67-year-old Cristina Alicia Izbinski were killed Monday when their 1931 Model A Ford with white-wall tires slammed into a tree and burst into flames Monday in Temple City.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives say the victims were vintage car collectors and earlier Monday they had bragged to an acquaintance about how well the Model A was running.

Investigators say they are still trying to determine what caused the crash and if the Izbinskis died from impact or the subsequent blaze. Because of the fire damage it is unclear whether seatbelts had been installed in the car.
