CLEVELAND (AP) - Police say they’re searching for a man who fired multiple shots at two Cleveland officers responding to a call about shots fired outside a convenience store.

A police spokeswoman says in a statement that two officers pulled to the curb outside the store on Cleveland’s east side around 11 p.m. Tuesday and saw people standing around two cars in the parking lot.

Police say a 26-year-old man immediately fired several shots at the marked police cruiser and that he fired as many as nine more while walking toward the officers’ car as it started backing.

Police say the man fled on foot after getting into a car that became stuck in traffic while driving away from the store. An arrest warrant was issued for a suspect.
