ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - An unidentified Rapides Parish Sheriff’s deputy has resigned after an inmate filed a complaint, alleging that the deputy hit him while he was handcuffed.

In a news release received by The Town Talk (https://townta.lk/1O7Up25) the complaint was filed on Aug. 26. The inmate claimed that he was hit by the deputy and was injured. The news release said the inmate was treated for minor injuries.

The deputy has not been identified.

The release says once the investigation has been finished, the file will be turned over to the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office.
