PHOENIX (AP) - The Alliance for Solar Choice will not contribute money to corporation commission elections following a request from regulators last week.

The Arizona Capitol Times reports (https://bit.ly/1NXv5xS) the solar alliance represents several large companies in the industry and said in a letter Tuesday that it would not support commission candidates either directly or by contributing to outside groups.

Corporation Commission Chairman Susan Bitter Smith and Commissioner Bob Burns drafted a letter last week saying regulated and unregulated entities with business before the board have a right to spend on elections, but that “this behavior” may be perceived as creating bias.

Arizona Public Service has neither confirmed nor denied donating the $3.2 million that outside groups used to support the 2014 campaigns of Commissioners Doug Little and Tom Forese.
