MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Several items, including computers, smartphones and over 70 cars will be auctioned off by the state of Alabama.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports (https://on.mgmadv.com/1NMKTEE) the items will be sold at Wednesday’s auction in Montgomery. The event starts at 8 a.m. and runs until all merchandise is auctioned.

The state’s Surplus Property Division holds the public auctions in January, May and September each year.

State General Services Supervisor Jamey Hollingsworth says anyone with a valid driver’s license and Social Security number can bid on the items.

Hollingsworth says the auctions usually generate about $500,000 for the state.

Hollingsworth says the prices at which cars sell vary depending on the number of interested bidders.

Other items up for sale include furniture, file cabinets and more.
