PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Pensacola woman has been sentenced to life in prison for a robbery that left a convenience store owner dead.

An Escambia County jury found 40-year-old Willie Mae Thornton guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder, and a judge sentenced her immediately after that.

Authorities say Thornton and her 19-year-old son, Dontonio, robbed Phuong Truong’s store last year. Investigators say the son fatally shot Truong, but the mother planned the robbery.

The Pensacola News Journal (https://goo.gl/CDQ9Q2 ) reports that Dontonio Thornton is awaiting trial on a first-degree murder charge.
