BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 15-year-old free diver pulled from the Atlantic Ocean has died.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says Skyler Hunt had been diving without breathing gear in about 90 feet of water near the Boca Raton Inlet when he lost contact with his friends and father Saturday afternoon.

The teen was found in the water about an hour later and airlifted to a hospital.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Eric Davis tells The Palm Beach Post (https://pbpo.st/1WbxE23 ) that the boy was pronounced dead around 4:45 p.m.

Hunt’s death is the latest in a series of incidents this year near Palm Beach County inlets, which are scenic but high-risk areas where rivers and the Intracoastal Waterway meet ocean tides.
