AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - John Musante, the town manager of Amherst, Massachusetts, has died. He was 53.

The town made the announcement on its website, but no cause of death was listed.

The Hampshire Gazette (https://bit.ly/1PhhOyL ) reports that an ambulance responded to a call from Musante’s home at about 8:45 Sunday morning. He was taken to a hospital in Northampton with a police escort.
