DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - The chaplain of the U.S. Senate is delivering a sermon at Duke University.

The school says retired Rear Admiral Barry Black will speak Sunday morning in an ecumenical service at Page Auditorium. Black plans to deliver a sermon titled “Making Room for Greatness,” based on the ninth chapter of the Gospel of Mark.

Black opens the Senate each day in prayer and provides counseling and spiritual care for senators, their families and staff. He was commissioned as a Navy chaplain in 1976 and retired as chief of Navy chaplains.

In the 1970s, he was a pastor at a Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Durham.
