McLEAN, Va. (AP) - Officials in Fairfax County say a woman has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after she fell from the rocks in Scott’s Run Park in McLean.

Radio station WTOP (https://bit.ly/1iH6vWD ) reports the woman fell about 40 feet a little before noon on Sunday. The Fairfax County Fire Department told the radio station that the woman was awake and talking after the accident but that her injuries are considered life-threatening.

Officials say the woman fell in a remote section of the park and that crews hiked into the area. Firefighters secured her in a rescue basket and then used a U.S. Park Police helicopter to hoist her from the side of the cliff.

Officials say one additional person was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
