WARREN, Mich. (AP) - A suburban Detroit mayor is defending a man’s decision to shoot a bank robber.

Warren Mayor Jim Fouts says the armed robber at Citizens Bank apparently ran into the wrong customer Monday. The robber was shot in the arms and leg as he tried to leave the bank with cash.

Fouts says the bank customer has a permit to carry a concealed weapon. The Detroit Free Press (https://on.freep.com/1L1PrqD ) says the robber fell to the ground outside the bank. His injuries aren’t life-threatening.

The mayor says the man who stopped the robber “must have been a pretty good shot,” although he cautions people not to use guns unless absolutely necessary.
