EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - East Hartford police say they have a suspect in custody in connection with a burglary and sexual assault at a local home.

A woman told authorities that a young man broke into her home early Saturday morning, sexually assaulted her and stole a .38-caliber gun. She called police at about 6:30 a.m. after the suspect fled. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police said on Monday morning that the suspect was arrested on unrelated charges and remains detained. Authorities say they also recovered a stolen registered firearm.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

Police are still investigating.
