PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pittsburgh-based education company has named its new president and chief executive officer.

Education Management Corp. announced Monday that Mark McEachen will officially replace former CEO Edward West Sept. 28.

The for-profit company runs 110 schools in 32 states and Canada for chefs, artists and other trades, including The Art Institutes, Argosy University, Brown Mackie College and South University.

The change comes as it has been dealing with shrinking enrollment and heightened regulatory scrutiny.

McEachen said an immediate priority will be to resolve legal challenges, including a pending federal lawsuit in which the U.S. Justice Department alleges that it illegally used enrollment incentives to pay its recruiters.

McEachen has served on a five-person team leading the company after West stepped down in August.
