BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Buffalo is celebrating completion of a major waterfront construction project.

A ceremony is planned for Monday to mark the grand opening of the Marriot hotel that completes the HarborCenter complex.

The HarborCenter is the vision of Buffalo Sabres and Bills owner Terry Pegula and is attached to the HSBC Arena, where the Sabres play. Along with the hotel, it has two NHL-sized ice rinks, a restaurant, a coffee shop, a parking ramp and retail shops.

Crews broke ground on the more than $170 million project in 2013.

Pegula, Mayor Byron Brown and Marriott International President Dave Grissen are among those expected at Monday’s ceremony.
