CINCINNATI (AP) - A sheriff says an armed man who fired at a deputy and instead hit a marked cruiser was arrested after a chase in suburban Cincinnati.

The Hamilton County sheriff’s office says deputies responding to sounds of gunfire in Lincoln Heights saw a man in the street fire at a male running down a sidewalk. Investigators say the shooter then fired toward an officer, striking the cruiser repeatedly.

A police dog tracked 21-year-old Michael Brown of Lincoln Heights to the backyard of a home, where he was arrested.

The sheriff’s spokesman says Brown’s charges include attempted murder and felonious assault. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.

Investigators say Brown was released from prison last month after serving time for assault.

They’re looking for the second person involved in the shooting.
