ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) - A herd of dairy cattle is being nursed back to health after being taken from a farmer in Winona County.

A team of volunteers is helping the 52 cows, yearlings, calves and a bull recover after the animals were recently found emaciated and badly neglected. Four animals were euthanized because the damage to their health was irreversible.

KTTC-TV (https://bit.ly/1Lrw7Se ) says the herd is being treated at an undisclosed location near Lanesboro. The sheriff’s department is investigated and may recommend animal neglect charges.
