PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (AP) - Residents of Pleasant Grove are raising money to help the police department get a little more space while plans for a new public safety building continue to face setbacks.

The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1irwqAH ) that a GoFundMe account has been set up to raise $5,000 for a portable shipping container to be used for storage to help with overcrowding at the police station.

The current public safety facility was built when there were only 11 employees in the department. Police Chief Mike Smith says not there are more than 50 people working in the same building, making working conditions a bit cramped.

Residents have twice voted down bond proposals that would have funded a new facility. Smith says the storage container would be a temporary solution.
