BALTIMORE (AP) - Authorities say a police officer shot a dog during a call to home in Baltimore.

Police say officers were called to the home Sunday afternoon for a report of a person wanted on a warrant. Police say during the investigation, a dog exited the residence and ran toward them. Authorities say that’s when one of the officers shot the animal.

Police say Animal Control took custody of the dog, which was later euthanized.

The officer involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
