HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (AP) - Police say a man has been arrested following last week’s fatal shooting at a bus stop in the Detroit enclave of Highland Park.

The man was shot around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Detroit Department of Transportation stop along Woodward Avenue and he collapsed nearby after trying to get away. The man who died was identified as 59-year-old Stanley Carter, an Army veteran.

Detective Brian Menge tells The Detroit News that a tip led investigators to the suspect on Sunday afternoon and he was taken into custody without incident.

No other injuries were reported at the bus stop. Police have said the shooting apparently stemmed from a botched robbery attempt.
